Chillicothe High School is opening its doors to wrestling enthusiasts of all levels with open mats designed to enhance skills and foster community among high school wrestlers. Starting this week, the school’s wrestling room, located above the Hatton Gymnasium, will be accessible to boys and girls interested in joining the wrestling team.
The open mats will be held three times a week: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for wrestlers to practice, refine their techniques, and engage with peers outside their regular team practices.
Chillicothe’s wrestling program is under the guidance of Coach Joshua Smith.
The wrestling room is fully equipped to meet the needs of high school wrestlers, providing a safe and supportive space for practice. Whether athletes are looking to get a head start on the season or want to stay active and connected with the wrestling community, these open mats are an excellent opportunity to do so.
For more information, including any potential changes to the schedule, athletes and parents are encouraged to contact Chillicothe High School’s athletics department. This initiative reflects Chillicothe High School's commitment to supporting student athletes and promoting the sport of wrestling throughout the community.
